Our History
Friends University has served students in the Kansas City metro area since 1989. After occupying several facilities, the University moved to its current Lenexa location in 2004.
Through our 100-year history, Friends University has worked to meet the needs of Kansas residents. In the 1980s, Friends recognized the challenges students face when trying to balance work and personal responsibilities with higher education. We made a commitment to develop programs that allow students to continue working and that focus on what is relevant in the real world.
And the University's commitment to students does not end after graduation. Area alumni find a lifelong connection with their fellow students, faculty, staff, and the University community through meetings, special events, and class newsletters.
From our early beginnings in Wichita in 1898, through our growth and statewide presence today, Friends University exists to provide students a high-quality educational experience.
